Who doesn't love children! From the time of birth in all their innocence children bring an uplifting energy of joy, happiness and unconditional love to us.
Children are our future and how we treat them and what we teach them will have an affect for seven generations. That's quite a responsibility. How are we educating our children? What examples are we setting for our children? Actions speak louder than words. Do we portray a positive attitude towards others? When we see another that perhaps is a bit different what do we do? Do we teach our children to be accepting of everyone? Pay attention to how your children are acting because it is a direct result of who you are. Tough words, I know.
Change is happening all around us and as it does we could begin our journey in assisting all children to live to their fullest potential. There are so many diverse kids with so many different abilities. And they all have abilities; everyone of them. The journey towards inclusion begins with us. One by one we can make a difference.
Our culture works on a medical model approach to true inclusion. If we don't have children with disabilities and lack the experience of what that means, disability will hit all of us sooner or later. We are all at rick from injury and old age. With that comes what our society deems disability and exclusion. Wouldn't it be better to start thinking about all of our world being included and accepted? It starts within our homes.
